Every girl dreams of marrying a prince, so it’s no wonder so many of us ladies are caught up in Royal Wedding mania! Seldom do we get such an in-depth look into the wedding of a famous person, so the opportunity to share in Kate and Prince William’s special day is so exciting! Kate will make a stunning bride, and I’m so anxious to see what she will wear and how it will influence bridal fashion! I’m sure that Kate has chosen a gown that is very modest and tasteful, but full of elegance befitting a princess. The details of her gown have been carefully guarded, even to the point of there being a decoy just in case the gown is “discovered.”

While everyone is making their predictions of what Kate will wear, I thought we’d take a look at some of our own princess brides and how they looked like royalty on their big day!

The Jewels
When it comes to wedding day jewelry, most brides fall into one of three categories: 1) no necklace at all 2) classic pearls or 3) all out bling. I picture Kate not wearing a necklace on her wedding day. She seems very reserved and I don’t think she’d want to be over the top flashy as she becomes a princess. But I’m a girl who is a fan of the bling, so I say one your wedding day go all out with the sparkle!

Tiaras
Whether you choose a headpiece or tiara, every princess should adorn her head with more sparkle!

The Dress
If you were to close your eyes right now and picture a princess on her wedding day, I’m sure you’d imagine a big puffy gown with a long, flowing train. I’m sure we can expect to see the same from Kate, though my guess is that her dress will also include sleeves.

Cathedral Length Veil
Is there anything more elegant than a long veil? With a long train, you need a veil to complement it!

Gloves
We don’t see gloves nearly enough, but they add such a classic touch a bride’s look! Dainty, delicate, feminine, and very regal!

The Prince
You can’t be a princess without a prince! It’s expected that Prince William will wear his Royal Air Force uniform, as is tradition in royal weddings. I think military uniforms beat tuxedos any day. What do you think?

Castles
I don’t know about you, but I still haven’t given up on the dream of living in a castle someday! Or at least visiting one! After the fairytale wedding, why not plan a honeymoon abroad and stay at a castle? Talk about romantic! Sigh…

And they lived Happily Ever After!
Regardless of all the other details, the most important part of the fairytale is the happily ever after!

Rachel and John held their wedding at the Rodman Plantation, a mansion on a sprawling property in the heart of Palatka. Rachel is a southern girl, so she had a very specific vision for her wedding – lemons and limes, mason jars, chalk boards, and lots of southern charm! As they hosted guests from across the pond, they incorporated elements of British culture including music and refreshments from England (such as Buck’s Fizz, or what we know better here as mimosas).

Rachel was a true southern belle, in an elegant dress that was simply stunning. And she couldn’t wait to see her groom-to-be, agreeing to a ‘first look’ with John so we could take advantage of the beautiful sunlight for photos. The Rodman Plantation had beautiful trees and white fences around the property that made for great backdrops for Rachel, John, and their gorgeous wedding party.

The ceremony was full of personal touches. The processional music was light and fun, including John and his groomsmen walking out to “The Boys Are Back In Town.” The ladies processed out with colorful parasols to “Going To The Chapel.” And everyone chuckled as Rachel’s little niece was brought down the aisle in a wagon. But it was Rachel’s processional to “Somewhere By The Rainbow” that had everyone in awe.

Rachel and John spent the rest of the evening dancing the night away with their closest friends and family. Quilts were placed out in the grass along with pillows that Rachel made so guests could relax beneath the stars. They also treated guests to a delicious selection of cupcakes with a small cake for their cake cutting. We can’t help but mention one incredibly personal and special moment. One of John’s best friends was unable to attend the wedding as he is currently deployed to Afghanistan with the British military forces. This incredibly thoughtful friend had sent a best man’s speech to the other best man, Wayne, to read for him as a toast. The speech was very touching and had everyone wiping away tears.

Rachel and John’s wedding was such a special day and we can’t thank them enough for making us a part of it. They are truly amazing people and we wish them the very best as they start their life together as husband and wife!

Matt and I just got home from Sharifa & Jerry’s beautiful wedding at NAS Jacksonville! I usually post a sneak peek the next day, but I couldn’t wait. I just had to share one photo tonight! We’ll have more after the newlyweds return from their honeymoon, but here’s one of my absolute favorite shots of the day. BLISS!!

Congratulations Sharifa & Jerry!

We’re VERY excited to share last weekend’s wedding with you -a charming historic chapel, vintage elements, a sweet couple and some DIY projects that will knock your socks off!

Lori & Bob held their wedding at the San Marco Preservation Hall, an 1888 Episcopal church that was moved to a park in San Marco and restored in 1994. It’s dark pine woodwork is truly remarkable! If you get a chance, you should plan a visit! It’s one of Jacksonville’s little treasures!

Lori’s vision for the day was very personal, romantic, and with a bit of antique style. Lori is a jewelry artist, and she made the stunning brooch bouquets carried by her and her Maid of Honor, Mary. She also added vintage brooches to the wedding cake and adorned her grandfather’s Bible (which was carried by her mother) with brooches that matched her bouquet.

But what really wowed us was Lori’s bridal style! She looked AMAZING! She had a very romantic Oleg Cassini ruffled gown with a sweet little veil. For the ceremony, she wore a stylish lace and ruffle jacket, but for the reception she showed her sassy side with a flirty, ruffled wrap. Her look was completed by our dear friend Faythe Mesic, who gave Lori a soft, romantic updo and dramatic eyes!

When Lori walked into the chapel, you could see that Bob was fighting back tears. He admitted later that his lip was quivering. But little does he know that she couldn’t stop sneaking peeks of him out of the window of the cottage, saying how amazing he looked in his tux!

We just love everything about this wedding! It was so sweet and personal and I think it really captured the style that Lori envisioned for her perfect day! Their friends and family were so much fun, and they helped so much with making sure that Lori & Bob’s day was everything they dreamed of! Though Lori didn’t officially have a coordinator, her friend Rhonda was running around the entire day making sure that everything went according to plan. She has coordinated weddings for many friends, but just does it for the love of weddings. Not THAT is the kind of friend you want to have when planning your wedding!

Lori & Bob, we wish you both all the best and are so happy that we were there to share such a beautiful day with you! Congratulations!

I love spring weddings, and yesterday’s was truly incredible! Lori & Bob held their wedding at the San Marco Preservation Hall, a charming 19th century church that has been lovingly restored. Everything about the day was gorgeous, but today we’re just giving you a sneak peek of what’s to come later this week! We just wanted to send out a big congratulations to Lori & Bob on an amazing day! We’re so happy for you both and want to thank you for letting us be part of your day!

It happened on the picturesque campus of Jacksonville University. In the hustle and bustle of students going from class to class, Matt noticed a cute girl hesitating in the walkway. He asked if she needed directions, and with a sigh of relief she answered, “Yes!” Could either of them have known just how important that small moment would become?

From that day, Alexis & Matt became fast friends, and that friendship developed into something much deeper. When it came time to discuss their session, they KNEW they wanted to shoot their engagement photos at Jacksonville University. It was so special to spend time with them in the place where it all began. They have a strong connection to their alma mater, and Matt made a great tour guide as he shared some of the university’s history while we walked around the campus!

What I love about Alexis & Matt is how they seem to know what the other is thinking without saying a word. They just start laughing hysterically, and being around them you can’t help but laugh along. They are also so comfortable with one another – the kind of comfort you can only find when you are in love with your best friend.

Friends and family are very important to Alexis & Matt, and they are really looking forward to having the people they love join them for their destination wedding in Telluride, CO! When I asked Alexis what was most important to her about the wedding day, she said, “I really hope as I look around on the day of my wedding, I see my closest family and friends smiling and laughing and participating in one of the best celebrations they have ever attended.” Without a doubt, their wedding will be breathtaking, romantic, sentimental, and filled with great times!

Unveiling the fabulousness of Veil options!

An option to consider…Veils have some what lost their luster in the recent trending of modern weddings. We see brides-to-be nearly everyday in our salons that are wavering over the decision…To veil or not to veil?

There are tons of factors to consider when deciding which, or even if, a veil is right for you. Venue, propriety of event, and possible religious or cultural demands all play a factor in this important choice. But, the great thing about modern weddings and wedding attire is that, like I have said a million times before, there are no rules except the ones you choose to set for your own “I-DO” day! Of course it is important to respect your surroundings and take into consideration certain factors, but the fantastic world of modern veils has taken a huge leap in the fashion forward direction, and you should absolutely take a look around before nixing the whole idea all together.

In the market for a veil? You may want to check out a few of these options.

For the dramatically divine ceremony, consider a Cathedral length veil.
Cathedral length veils are definitely a statement piece! If you are looking to dazzle your guests, adorn yourself with this veil choice and wait to hear the gasps of delight as you take your fabulous stride down the aisle! Bonus, these lengthy veils make for some breathtaking wedding photo ops…

For the less dramatic, yet true traditionalist with a modern twist, consider fingertip of elbow length selections.
If you are looking to add a traditional element to your “I-Dos” a fingertip or elbow length may be just the right choice to unveil to your guests on your special day! They add just the right amount of elegance and class, and could be the right fit for you!

For the modern, chic, and unique bride looking to spice up her day, consider the ohh-so-funky birdcage veil.
A little bit retro and whole lot stunning, this modern take on the veil has to be a personal favorite of mine! Add a feathered hair piece along with this spectacular shaped veil, and you will be every bit of fabulosity modern bridal has to offer! Retro, modern, and definitely stunning! What more could you ask for?

Before you decide you are not the veil type, make sure to check out the abundance of options that are out there and I think you just might find one that tickles your bridal fancy!

We’ve been posting a lot of sneak peeks lately, but now that we’re back from our trip to Washington we’re excited to share even more photos from recent engagement sessions and weddings!

I met up with Bridgette & Bryant just a couple days before heading out to the Pacific Northwest to meet up with Matt. There were a million things on my to do list and more appointments on my calendar than I typically have in a week, but when Bridgette called and said her sweetie was coming down from Virginia I found a way to fit them into the schedule! This was my first time meeting Bryant, and I was so anxious to meet him after hearing all the sweet things Bridgette had to say about him and talking to him on the phone! He is such a great guy and will do anything for his baby. And it’s clear that his baby feels the same way about him!

While engagement sessions are about the photos, it’s so much more than that. It’s a chance to get to know the couple better, and I’m so moved by what I learned about Bridgette & Bryant that day. They are so deeply devoted to one another and to building a family together. Their love for each other is strengthened by their faith, and all I can say is that it’s powerful to realize just how deep their love is. It’s something that you can only understand by getting to know them!

I may very well cry when I see these two incredible people say “I do!” We can’t wait for the big day!

We have many more photos to share later this week, but first we wanted to post a sneak peek of what to expect from this adorable couple! Based on how they rocked this dip shot, I can’t wait to see their first dance!! So romantic!
