Rachel and John held their wedding at the Rodman Plantation, a mansion on a sprawling property in the heart of Palatka. Rachel is a southern girl, so she had a very specific vision for her wedding – lemons and limes, mason jars, chalk boards, and lots of southern charm! As they hosted guests from across the pond, they incorporated elements of British culture including music and refreshments from England (such as Buck’s Fizz, or what we know better here as mimosas).
Rachel was a true southern belle, in an elegant dress that was simply stunning. And she couldn’t wait to see her groom-to-be, agreeing to a ‘first look’ with John so we could take advantage of the beautiful sunlight for photos. The Rodman Plantation had beautiful trees and white fences around the property that made for great backdrops for Rachel, John, and their gorgeous wedding party.
The ceremony was full of personal touches. The processional music was light and fun, including John and his groomsmen walking out to “The Boys Are Back In Town.” The ladies processed out with colorful parasols to “Going To The Chapel.” And everyone chuckled as Rachel’s little niece was brought down the aisle in a wagon. But it was Rachel’s processional to “Somewhere By The Rainbow” that had everyone in awe.
Rachel and John spent the rest of the evening dancing the night away with their closest friends and family. Quilts were placed out in the grass along with pillows that Rachel made so guests could relax beneath the stars. They also treated guests to a delicious selection of cupcakes with a small cake for their cake cutting. We can’t help but mention one incredibly personal and special moment. One of John’s best friends was unable to attend the wedding as he is currently deployed to Afghanistan with the British military forces. This incredibly thoughtful friend had sent a best man’s speech to the other best man, Wayne, to read for him as a toast. The speech was very touching and had everyone wiping away tears.
Rachel and John’s wedding was such a special day and we can’t thank them enough for making us a part of it. They are truly amazing people and we wish them the very best as they start their life together as husband and wife!

Gorgeous! Love the theme of this wedding.. I hope to see this published!
Thanks Holly & Steph! I would love to see this get published also. There are so many more details above what I’ve posted. Rachel put so much thought into every little thing, and the wedding was just gorgeous! I could have easily blogged this in 3 parts!
Stunning x
Lovely lovely lovely. I can’t help thinking that the sunflowers and daisies have a little bit to do with Harold and Maude.
Maude: I should like to change into a sunflower most of all. They’re so tall and simple. What flower would you like to be?
Harold: I don’t know. One of these, maybe.
Maude: Why do you say that?
Harold: Because they’re all alike.
Maude: Oooh, but they’re *not*. Look. See, some are smaller, some are fatter, some grow to the left, some to the right, some even have lost some petals. All *kinds* of observable differences. You see, Harold, I feel that much of the world’s sorrow comes from people who are *this*,
[she points to a daisy]
Maude: yet allow themselves be treated as *that*
[she gestures to a field of daisies]
Very cute! Thanks for sharing Whitney! : )
