Archive for September, 2011

This has been such an exciting week here at Gwendolyn Tundermann Photography! We’ve been meeting with a lot of new brides and grooms, finishing August weddings and working on September ones, planning for October weddings, sending out lots of pretty packages, and working on some BIG plans for 2012. On Monday, Sandra & Rafael’s Cuban glam engagement photos were featured on the new wedding blog, Latina Novia, in their first blog post EVER! We also found out that one of our couples will have their wedding featured in one of our favorite magazines in 2012! And on Tuesday, Melissa & Josh’s St. Augustine wedding at the River House was featured on The Wedding Yentas!

And the week isn’t over! ; )

We’d like to thank the lovely Wedding Yentas for featuring Melissa & Josh’s wedding! They are such a sweet couple! And we’d like to send another shout out to the amazing team that we worked with who made this wedding truly amazing:

This week is off to an exciting start! Monday was the launch of an exciting new wedding blog, Latina Novia! We’ve been anxiously awaiting this launch because it’s such a unique niche for wedding inspiration! We’ve also been anticipating this launch because we knew that Latina Novia was planning on featuring Sandra & Rafael’s super-hot Cuban glam engagement photos! What we didn’t expect was that they would be the very first feature – EVER – on Latina Novia!

Wow!! : )

Friday can come, because this news totally made my week! Sandy was so excited, too! As well she should be, because she was the vision behind this incredible themed engagement session! I seriously loved everything about this session!! Ahhh!!

Sandra & Rafael are planning the final details for the big day – which is next week! I just had coffee with Sandy and trust me – this wedding will be beautiful!!

Congratulations to Latina Novia on your launch, and thank you so much for featuring Sandra & Rafael’s engagement session! Much love and success to you! XOXO

We just got home from Jamie & Chris’s elegant wedding at the Hilltop Restaurant in Orange Park! The ballroom was decorated with black and white (and pops of damask) with twinkling lights all around the room. It was such an intimate setting, and despite the uncertainty of the weather it turned out to be a beautiful day!

Jamie & Chris are getting ready to set sail around the Caribbean (and we are soooooo jealous of them for it!!) so we wanted to get a sneak peek posted before they leave! We hope you two have a wonderful time, and we can’t wait for you to return so we can share more photos from your wedding day! : )

The engagement session was my first time meeting Kizzy & Darren in person, but through Facebook I felt like I already knew so much about them! I have never seen two people write so many cute messages to each other… just to say “I’m thinking of you” and “I can’t wait to marry you.” But they are even sweeter to each other in person!

The day of their e-session was actually Kizzy’s birthday, but she was the one who surprised Darren with flowers and a picnic! She set up a heart with flower petals in front of the fountain and brought a fruit and cheese platter and some margaritas.

It’s great to have a crush on the person you are going to marry! Kizzy and Darren have known each other since they were teenagers, and it’s safe to say that they are going to be old and gray and still look at each other the way they do today! I overheard Darren saying to Kizzy “You’re kisses make me weak!” Yeah, they are THAT dang cute!

It’s easy to see why these two are so loved! We stopped at a gas station and I heard people say “Happy birthday Kizzy!” We also ran into her dad there, and he bought her a little cake and some candles. Kizzy has told me several times that family is very important to her. She loves with her whole heart and has found someone who loves her the way she deserves!

Thank you both for a great time the other day! I hope these photos will always remind you of this exciting time in your lives and a wonderful birthday! Just think – next year you’ll be celebrating your birthday with a new last name!!! : D

This week’s Wedding Wednesday post was written by one of our grooms, Jeff. We asked him to tell us about his experience doing a “First Look” on the wedding day. You can view some of their downtown Nashville wedding photos here!

——————————————-

So, I have to admit, when Gwen and Matt first suggested to us that we should do a “first look” as part of the schedule of photography for our wedding day, although my bride was on board with the idea from the get go, I was dead set, adamantly against it. It went against all the freaky superstitions, it was wrong, it is not meant to be for the bride and groom to see each other BEFORE the wedding! It’s bad luck, right? Why would I do that? NO NO NO NO NO!

After some discussion with my fiancée I agreed to give it some thought….. I thought about it for the months to come, and particularly with ours being a night time low light wedding, We wanted to make sure we had the optimal lighting for the pictures we would remember FOREVER when looking back on our day! “No No No” but it made a little sense right? I mean, we are in 2010, not the 50’s right? NO!NO! well…maybe…I mean Jessi is ok with it…..but, what about the music? The nervous butterflies? OK, I will think about it some more.

I finally conceded “defeat” (or so I thought at the time) and said we would do our first look, as long as I could play music when my bride walked in. For me, it was about that moment, and all of the senses that go into it. The music playing, the decorations, the smell of the air, the feeling when I would see my bride for the very first time. So, we decided to have our first look in the very spot where we would have the wedding! A “dress rehearsal” of what would come just hours later.

OK, I admit it I was wrong to be so against the “first look”! We hit the music, I had my back turned, Gwen and Matt were snapping pictures, the music was playing, the sun was shining, and the butterflies were all over the place in my stomach as I turned around to see the most beautiful bride in the whole wide world! We were both so glad to not have to worry about 100 people seeing us, as we saw each other , and it gave us both the chance to enjoy a moment we would cherish for the rest of our lives. Plus, with the Nashville Sun shining down, and as much time as we needed, the pictures were of course unbelievable! So, for a guy who considers himself to be pretty old fashion when it came to weddings, I am certainly grateful that we had our “first look” moment all to ourselves!

Today is a very special day! Not only did Kizzy and Darren get to shoot their engagement photos at the Stephen Foster Folk Cultural Center, but today also happens to be Kizzy’s birthday! So for their sneak peek I had to post two photos instead of the usual one!

I had a great time with you guys today! Hope you have a wonderful time celebrating with the family tonight! : )

We’ve had a fun time giving away wedding-related movies this summer! We gave away copies of Jumping The Broom and Something Borrowed last month. I’ve been anxiously waiting (with a daily reminder from a bright yellow Post It) for the release of the hilarious movies Bridesmaids, and the day has finally arrived! To celebrate, we’re giving away a copy of the DVD to one lucky winner who can tell us…

WHAT ARE QUALITIES TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING YOUR BRIDESMAIDS?

Leave your comment below and we’ll draw one lucky name to receive a free DVD of the movie! You have until Sunday, September 25th at midnight to enter! The winner will be announced on Monday! : )

Weddings are definitely our passion, but we also really love shooting senior portraits! We’ve thought about developing our senior portrait business more, but the fact is that weddings just keep us so busy all year round! But when my friend Janene asked if I had some time to shoot senior portraits for her daughter, Kerryn, I was so excited! Seniors are fun because it’s such an exciting time for them and the session really is a reflection of their personality! Kerryn brought several adorable outfits and let her personality shine for the camera!

Janene asked if she could have a few photos with her daughter, and I think you’ll see where gets her beauty from! Janene and I used to work together, and she is just a doll! We had a great time with them both on Saturday! : )

This morning we had fun shooting a senior portrait session with Kerryn, who is the daughter of my dear friend Janene. And if you think that this session was easy because Kerryn is gorgeous… then you are so right! She chose several adorable outfits and the overcast sky provided great light for us to work with!

It was hard to choose a favorite, so we chose one that wouldn’t give away our location! When we post more on Tuesday, I think a lot of people will recognize the beautiful venue we used for Kerryn’s shoot! It was the perfect setting! We can’t wait to share them!
