We recently traveled to Jamaica to capture Deyanna & Brandon’s destination wedding at Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay. They couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful location! As you approach Sangster International Airport, you can see Secrets from the plane. The resort is located on a small peninsula with long rocky paths leading out into the water, distinguishing it from other resorts that line the beaches in mountainous MoBay. Talk about getting married in paradise!

With turquoise water behind them, Deyanna & Brandon said “I do” in front of a close group of family and friends. Their happiness couldn’t be contained. The day was FINALLY here, and the smiles on their faces just said it all. All of the long distance planning and all the details came down to this one day and this moment – the day they became husband and wife!

As the ceremony concluded, the storms clouds approached from behind the mountains. We wished them away, and we raced against time to shoot their portraits before heading inside for the reception. I think if we had stayed a few minutes longer we would have been caught in the rain, but it was hard to pull away from the amazing spectacle created by the storm clouds and the brilliant sunset. I knew if we just waited for it we’d get the most incredible shot, and you can see below where the sky went from pretty blue and yellow to a brilliant gold! Inside I was just begging for that storm to stay away long enough to get an amazing silhouette shot, and the lovely island granted our wish!

Safely in the reception and unaware of the rain pouring outside, guests enjoyed dinner, cocktails, and an amazing dessert bar while the DJ played one great song after the other. Even the wait staff couldn’t help dancing off to the side! A soul train formed a couple times throughout the night, but my favorite parts were Brandon & Deyanna each singing to each other. Brandon can be a quiet guy, so when he started singing everyone got such a kick out of it! And when Deyanna and her girls started performing Beyonce’s “Love On Top” I saw a side of this driven and ambitious woman that I had not seen before! She put her all into it. Now, I don’t know if they had practiced and planned this, but it was a phenomenal performance. Brandon watched with a huge smile on his face while recording it on his phone! : )

And I still have a huge grin thinking about that day! It was just too much fun! It’s hard not to enjoy shooting a wedding in such a beautiful place, but really it was the people who made this wedding so amazing. Deyanna & Brandon and their guests were all so wonderful that it was bittersweet when we had to head back. Thank you for letting us share this amazing trip with you! Matt and I wish you both blessings and happiness in your marriage!

I’ve had this song in my head the whole time while editing all your photos. I think it just captures the vibe and complete joy from your wedding celebration and every time I hear it I’ll be taken back to that day! : )

Matt and I returned to Jacksonville to shoot Jordan & Kacee’s wedding at Deercreek Country Club last weekend, and we can’t wait to share the gorgeous details of their day! The decor was red and black and so dark and elegant! It was amazing! Here’s a sneak peek:

I am finally back in California after being away for two weeks, and what an amazing two weeks it was! It started off with Deyanna & Brandon’s beautiful wedding at Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay and I am excited to share a little sneak peek of their wedding day! More to come later this week! : )

On a beautiful September day, Dayna & Steven were married in the sweet town of Harmony – quaint community tucked away just outside the hustle and bustle of Orlando and St. Cloud. Appropriately named, Harmony is a peaceful place that makes you feel one with its natural surroundings. It was here, among the oak trees and Spanish moss, that Dayna & Steven decided to invite those they love the most to join them in a celebration of love and unity.

Guests were shuttled to the remote location of Cat Lake, and as the golden tones of the setting sun peeked through the trees Steven waited for his bride-to-be. Dayna made a breathtaking entrance in a classic car escorted by her parents. I could hear guests ooh and ah at this grand entrance, though the beauty of the car was nothing compared to the bride, dressed in a stunning and flirty white ruffled gown with a glow about her as she made her journey down the aisle.

The ceremony was sweet and sentimental, with readings from family and a special moment when Dayna & Steven gave their son Maddox a necklace with three intertwined rings to symbolize the unity of their family. They also participated in a family sand ceremony, making everyone’s hearts melt. As the ceremony concluded and Dayna & Steven sealed their vows with a kiss, they drove away into the sunset.

Carefully planning the details of this joyous day, Dayna & Steven had quite a few surprises in store for their guests. As they were introduced, they went into their first dance (one of my favorites – “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz). But just when everyone expected them to be seated they went into a choreographed dance to Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” and everyone was in awe of their performance! It was one of the coolest things we have ever seen at a wedding, and you could tell that they had such a great time with it!

It set the tone for the rest of the evening, because the dance floor stayed packed all night! As this day of celebration came to a close, Dayna & Steven’s friends and family sent them off with well wishes through a tunnel of sparklers as they began their life together as husband and wife! What a fun ending to a very beautiful wedding day!

At GTP, we just adore Smitten Magazine! As “the look book of wedding fancy,” they always showcase weddings with beautiful details that inspire us and make us swoon! We are so delighted that they chose to feature another one of our couples on their blog. Recently, they featured Rachel & John’s sweet wedding at the Rodman Plantation – a truly southern delight with mason jars, local jam and honey, and picnic blankets. It’s no secret that some of our favorite wedding images came from this day. Rachel & John’s happiness was written all over their faces, and we loved his tux and her southern belle dress against the rustic and charming grounds of the Rodman Plantation.

And now we get to share their wedding day again! Thanks so much to Smitten for choosing Rachel & John’s wedding to be featured on your blog! : )

Jordan & Kacee’s engagement session was different from anything I’ve ever shot before. For one thing, we weren’t sure exactly what we were going to do. We had a tentative location and theme, but we ended up scrapping the plan and going downtown instead. We grabbed a drink (okay, maybe two) and walked around until we felt like stopping to shoot. Not only was it more casual than most e-sessions, I also shot it differently. I opted for grainy black and white instead of the usual punchy and bold colors that I tend toward. Jordan & Kacee are so artistic, eclectic, and deep, and black and white seemed to fit the mood perfectly.

Jordan & Kacee have the kind of love that makes other people envious. It goes beyond love. I believe that these two are soul mates and there is nothing that could have kept them from being together. I can’t wait to see them promise forever later this month! <3 Downtown-Jacksonville-Engagement-Photos-01.jpg

When Ali & Rufus started planning their engagement session, they knew they wanted a place that was unique. After visiting with friends, they decided to shoot their engagement photos at Big Talbot Island. They said it’s such a hidden gem, and I couldn’t agree more! The quiet beach and hauntingly beautiful driftwood tree skeletons make it a romantic and intimate place for a session!

About half way to the island, I realized that I had gotten into a car with basically strangers and thought nothing of it. That’s because Ali & Rufus have the kind of personality that you just like them instantly. And what can I say? They have great taste in music, love Riverside as much as I do and are absolute foodies. I’d say we are kindreds!

Though mother nature threw us an obstacle with the tides covering most of the beach we were rewarded with a spectacular sunset. We must have been having too much fun because we didn’t realize how late it was getting and the park ranger came out to look for us. It was just hard to stop shooting when the sky was putting on such an incredible show! Every minute was something new! These are the kind of days I live for as a photographer! : )

Fall wedding season has officially begun, and we kicked things off with Katie & Andy’s beautiful wedding at the Boathouse at Sunday Park in Richmond, VA! Imagine the scene – a tranquil lake setting with the sky turning shades of gold, orange, and pink as they said their vows. You couldn’t ask for a more perfect day!

We first met Katie & Andy at TJ & Andrea’s wedding at the Naval Academy. Andy is TJ’s brother and was also his best man. Anyone could see that Katie & Andy have this perfect chemistry. The way they laugh together is like a chorus, and it would seem incomplete to have one without the other.

Since Katie & Andy have such a great time together, it’s no surprise that they had an awesome reception! You can bet the dance floor was packed as the band Class Act played one great song after another! But I think our favorite performance was at the end of the evening when Andy serenaded Katie with “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling.” It was an epic ending to such a great wedding!

We wish Katie & Andy a blessed journey in their new life together, and also wish Andrea & TJ continued bliss on their anniversary! It has been such an honor to photograph your weddings! : )

We’re back in California after a fabulous trip back to the east coast. I realize now how much I will miss Spanish moss and oak trees! Fortunately, Dayna & Steven’s wedding at Harmony Golf Preserve was filled with sweet, southern goodness (and plenty of lovely trees). We can’t wait to share their ceremony by the lake, but I had to share a sneak peek of one of their photos as the sun went down. The sky was a brilliant blue dancing among the clouds! And wait until you see the full moon that was out that night! Ah! Gorgeous!!

Can’t wait to share more after Dayna & Steven return from their honeymoon! : )
