We hope that you’ve enjoyed Part I of Alexis & Matt’s destination wedding in Telluride! It’s funny to read the comments on the blog and on our Facebook page saying how the setting is so beautiful that it doesn’t even look real! We always hope that a wedding day turns out perfect, but this really was the perfect wedding. Alexis & Matt deserve it so much, because they really are amazing people!

And they are surrounded by wonderful people, too! We first met Matt when he was part of Stephanie & Dave’s St. Augustine wedding last year! We were so excited to see them again, and we took the opportunity to get a pic with Alexis, Matt, Stephanie, and Dave at the end of the night (see below)!

There were so many great moments from Alexis and Matt’s reception at Allred’s. From heartfelt and funny speeches to the party atmosphere created by Denver-based live band Deja Blu, the whole evening was filled with moments to remember! One thing we’ll never forget is the cake cutting. Instead of having a single wedding cake that they cut, Alexis decided to have 18 unique mini-cakes from Telluride Truffle spread amongst all the tables, including one on their own. Each cake had a cake cutting set and the cakes were cut during a communal cake cutting. Afterwards, guests could move from table to table, sampling the other cakes and starting up conversations. What an amazing idea and a great way to involve everyone at the reception!

It was bittersweet to see the evening come to an end, but it was a day that will not be forgotten! Kudos to Soiree Telluride for making Alexis & Matt’s vision a reality and for making the day run so seamlessly! And a HUGE thank you to Alexis & Matt for choosing us to capture their amazing wedding! It was an honor to be part of your day, and we wish you both all the best! : )

Whenever people ask what has been our favorite place to shoot, we’re never sure what to say. There are so many venues and cities that we love, and we have wonderful memories of them all. But now when people ask, we will say Telluride – hands down!

It’s easy to see why Alexis & Matt chose to have their destination wedding in Telluride. The town is historic, charming, and the people are friendly. It’s surrounded by mountains, perfect for hiking and bike riding in the summer and skiing in the winter. It’s the kind of place that you look around, in awe of its beauty, and you know that God must have smiled after it was created! It’s a natural work of art!

There’s something very sacred about saying your vows from 10,000 feet. Like you are literally proclaiming from the mountaintops for all the world to hear – “I do!”

Alexis and Matt’s wedding was one of those events where everything just seemed to come together. The decor was amazing, the 18 miniature cakes were so unique and special, the planner was fantastic, and best of all, the threat of rain never materialized, allowing the wedding to proceed outside at the St. Sophia overlook, maybe one of the most majestic views anyone will ever see.

The best part, though, was the people. Everyone had a great time helping celebrate Alexis and Matt’s union. They enjoyed fine food, drinks, and dancing to the sounds of Deja Blu at the rustic-chic Allred’s Restaurant, which itself had a great view of the mountains and Telluride.

When Alexis and Matt finally disembarked from the gondola back at the base of the mountain, everyone was waiting to give them one last cheer and a rousing send-off to finish off a spectacular day.

With Alexis and Matt back from their surprise honeymoon (Matt didn’t tell Alexis where he was taking her!), we know they’re anxious to see their photos! So please enjoy Part I of their amazing destination wedding and be sure to come back for Part II tomorrow!

We always tell people how much we adore the small, intimate destination weddings some people plan. There’s always something so special and personal when a couple chooses to share their special day with a small group of family and friends. Courtney and Brody departed from Arkansas to get married on the beautiful beaches of Florida’s Emerald Coast!

We loved all the personal details, including Courtney’s gorgeous bouquet, borrowed jewelry and mementos, and creative pieces found on Etsy. One of my favorite parts was doing some ring shots on top of Brody’s fireman’s coat and helmet.

While Gwen and the ladies hung out, getting hair and makeup done, I met up with Brody for his getting ready photos at another house. When I arrived, I managed to catch him helping change baby Collin. The room had such gorgeous light and what was supposed to be getting ready photos quickly turned into a mini-baby photo session. Collin is an adorable little guy and it was so fun seeing proud daddy Brody help get Collin ready for the wedding.

Courtney made for a gorgeous bride and you could see how captivated Brody was when she walked down the stairs and aisle towards him. After a quick but beautiful ceremony, we took some family photos on the beach before getting Courtney and Brody alone to let them enjoy being newlyweds in front of a setting sun. They have such a natural chemistry and the fading sunlight made for the perfect backdrop.

Our time with Courtney and Brody was all too short and we sincerely hope to meet up with them again on their next trip to Florida, but in the meantime, we feel so blessed and honored that they picked us to help capture such a meaningful day in their lives!

Courtney and Brody (and Collin), best wishes to you! : )

On a few rare occasions, we don’t get to meet some of our couples before their big day. Such was the case with Courtney and Brody, who traveled from Arkansas for a destination wedding in sunny Seaside, FL with their closest friends and family. Luckily, we arrived a day early and found some time to meet up with Courtney and Brody for a little “get-to-know-you” session. We walked around the fun and quaint little town of Seaside, with it’s central square, cute little restaurants and shops, historic post office, and a fun row of old airstream trailers that had been converted into restaurants. One in particular, Frost Bites, sold very tasty shaved ice and root beers float and its owner was so amazing in letting Courtney and Brody come inside for a fun photo!

We eventually found a quiet green nearby where Courtney and Brody’s playful side came out. They did a lot of hugging and flirting with each other. We even found the coolest little wall that perfectly matched their outfits!

We always tell couples how an engagement session really helps us get to know them and their style and we were so thankful that Courtney and Brody gave us some time amidst all their wedding planning to let us get to know them. And of course, knowing how they were as a couple in front of a camera really came in handy the next day during their gorgeous wedding. But you’ll have to come back to catch their gorgeous destination wedding photos!

I’ve enjoyed sharing some of my images from this Indian wedding at the Georgia Aquarium! It was such an incredible opportunity to shoot with my talented friend Rupa Kapoor (the best Indian wedding photographer in Atlanta!). This last entry focuses on the reception details, which include a swanky lounge area, gorgeous lighting, and some of the aquarium’s features. The decor was created by Shushil of Utopian Events, and it was beyond amazing!

I hope that you’ve enjoyed some of the details of this amazing Indian wedding in Atlanta! Hopefully I’ll have some images from an Indian wedding in Jacksonville to share with you in the near future! : )

Yesterday I shared images from an Indian wedding at Ventana’s that I shot with Atlanta wedding photographer Rupa Kapoor of Love Captured Simply. Today, I’m sharing an Indian wedding at the Georgia Aquarium – and this bride is the twin sister of the one in yesterday’s post! These two gorgeous girls had separate wedding ceremonies and one elaborate, elegant wedding reception (which will be posted tomorrow!).

The fantastic part about having a wedding at the Georgia Aquarium in the Oceans Ballroom is the array of fish, sharks, and whales that swim by during the ceremony! Every once in a while you heard guests going “ooh” and “ahh” when something would swim by. It was a beautiful place to get married!

Tomorrow I’ll post a few details from the reception. You won’t believe how this space was transformed into a very swanky reception area with a lounge, casino, and a dance floor in addition to dining and dancing space! Thanks again to Rupa for allowing me to come shoot!

Since I’m hanging out with my friend Rupa this week on our photography retreat in Vail, I thought it would be a great time to share some images that I shot for her last June. It was a double Indian wedding in Atlanta, and it was just phenomenal! I am so thankful to Rupa for allowing me to come second shoot for her, because she’s so talented and such a great friend! So if you are looking for an Indian wedding photographer in Atlanta, definitely check out her website! Of course, if you’re looking for an Indian wedding photographer in Jacksonville, you can call us! : )

So here is Part 1 of 3 of the amazing double Indian wedding. The two brides are twin sisters, and they had separate wedding ceremonies with a joint wedding reception. The first wedding was at Ventanas in downtown Atlanta, a gorgeous event space covered with windows with a rooftop that has the most incredible view of the skyline. Ah-ma-zing! The bride surprised her groom with a helicopter ride around the city as his wedding gift!! And if you think that is cool, just wait until you see Parts 2 and 3! Sorry, that’s all I can tell you for now! You’ll just have to keep coming back to see what I mean! : )

Thank you Rupa for the opportunity to shoot with you! It was the experience of a lifetime and the couples and their friends and family were so wonderful. It was an honor to be part of their wedding memories!

It’s no secret that Matt and I LOVE to travel! We’re always been up for a trip, even if it’s just for the weekend. It could be a 2 hour drive to Savannah, a 19 hour road trip to Connecticut, flying to a tropical island or across the country to our favorite state, California.

So when we were contacted about Linelle & Jonathan’s wedding in San Ramon, CA, we decided to spend a few extra days for the 4th of July and do some wine tasting. It was the most relaxing weekend, and we had a fantastic time without breaking the bank! Wine country can definitely get expensive very quickly. A hotel in Napa/Sonoma is $200-300/night. Wine tastings can range from $10 to $50, depending on the winery and the type of tasting. And you can’t have great wine and NOT have great food, so wine country has an impressive selection of restaurants, most notably French Laundry, which is considered one of the best in the WORLD! A 9 course prix fixe dinner is over $500 for two people – and that doesn’t include your wine! Ouch!

Well, we don’t have that kind of budget, but you don’t need to in order to have a great time in wine country! First, we stayed outside of wine country. Our hotel was in Pleasanton (just 10 minutes from where the wedding was) but on our last trip to Napa we stayed in Vallejo, which is just 30 minutes from Napa. You can easily find a hotel on Priceline for around $50 if you’re flexible on what area you stay in. I always bid on 3 stars and up for hotels and have not been disappointed. When we stayed in Vallejo we scored a 4 star hotel for only $50/night. Not bad!

We spent one day in San Francisco and two days in Sonoma and had a FABULOUS time! Here are some ways to enjoy San Francisco and Sonoma on a budget!

Day 1 – Point Reyes National Seashore and San Francisco
We started off at lunch at a small Mexican restaurant that we found on Yelp called Taqueria los Pericos. I just searched for “Best Mexican restaurant in Pleasanton,” and the reviews were great. We split a quesadilla and a soda, and even between the two of us we were barely able to finish it!

We then drove out toward the coast. On the way, we saw a road sign for a mission, so we made a slight detour and stopped at Mission San Rafael Arcangel. After learning more about the mission, we continued onward to the Point Reyes National Seashore. This is possibly one of the most diverse and beautiful places I have ever been! Our main purpose was to visit the lighthouse, but the long drive took us past a quaint small town, several ranches, and beautiful beaches. We saw deer crossing the road and LOTS of cows! I absolutely adore cows, so I was thrilled when we had to stop while they crossed the road! There are over 300 steps to get down to the lighthouse, and the hike back up is pretty intense, but it was so worth it! The view was incredible!

After leaving Point Reyes, we made our way toward San Francisco, making a stop at Muir Woods. We got there right at 6pm, and as it turns out they let you in free at that point! I wish I could tell you that we are so savvy that we timed it that way, but we were just lucky! The redwood trees at Muir Woods are an impressive sight, and it’s a great place to just get in touch with nature. There’s a stream, mossy tree stumps, and tons of wildlife. We saw a variety of birds, a deer and two fawns, and my FAVORITE – a baby chipmunk! Matt had a hard time dragging me away from it! I can’t resist cute fuzzy little critters!

Once I realized that I couldn’t take the chipmunk home with me, we made our way down to San Francisco for “Friday Nights at the deYoung Museum.” Free admission to the museum, music (that night’s band was LoCura, and they were PHENOMENAL), and free coffee from Peet’s Coffee & Tea! Sounds like my kind of night! We had a great time and ended our visit to San Fran with a late dinner at Tommy’s Joynt. We’re suckers for any place that has been on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives!

Lunch at Taqueria los Pericos – $10
Mission – .25 to park
Point reyes – free
Muir Woods – free
Museum – $26 (parking and drinks)
Tommys Joynt – $28 for two sandwiches and beers
————————————————
Total – $64.25

Day 2 – Sonoma
Our second day was much more relaxed! We stopped at Trader Joe’s to get some goodies for a picnic at Cline Cellars. The grounds at Cline are so tranquil that we spent the entire afternoon there! The tasting was free, but we loved their wines so we joined their club. We bought a bottle of Mourvedre to enjoy with our picnic, found a spot in the grass and listened to the wind blow through the trees and birds singing.

If that wasn’t perfect enough, Cline Cellars is also the site of the beginnings of the Sonoma Mission. They have a mission museum on site with models from all of the missions that were on display at the World’s Fair. Fascinating, but it gets better! They also have a bird sanctuary and two Sicilian miniature donkeys named Pudding and Fancy! Too cute! But the BEST part of all… the Cline family bought Villa Laura – the house from “Under The Tuscan Sun!” As if we needed another reason to LOVE this winery!!

After spending most of the day at Cline, we went to Sonoma Plaza and shared some ice cream (because when you’re on a trip you should always have dessert first!). We also saw Mission San Francisco Solano, the last of the California missions. Then we shared a fantastic pizza from The Red Grape for dinner. A perfect end to a wonderful day!

Picnic lunch from Trader Joe’s – $12
Wine tasting at Cline cellars – the tasting is free, but we spent $15 on a bottle of Mourvedre
Missions museum – free
Sonoma plaza – free
Mission San Francisco Solano – free
Ice cream – $7
Dinner at The Red Grape – $22
——————————
Total – $56

Day 3 – Sonoma
We had such a wonderful time in Sonoma that we decided to go back again the next day. We knew we would spend most of our day at Cline Cellars, so we decided to visit a few other wineries to compare. Cline was by FAR our favorite for their wines and for the scenery. We spent the afternoon there before heading out to the airport for a redeye flight.

Lunch at Taqueria los Pericos – $10
Picnic dinner from Trader Joe’s – $15
Nicholson ranch winery – $10
Gundlach Bundschu – $10
Sebastiani – $15 (we joined the club, so our tasting fee was refunded)
Cline Cellars – free tasting, but we bought another bottle of their smooth Mourvedre ($15)
———————————————
Total – $75

We hope this inspires you to take a trip out to the Bay area and wine country! And if it does, please bring back a bottle of red for us! Cheers! : )

We recently flew out to beautiful California to shoot Linelle & Jonathan’s wedding at The Canyon View in San Ramon. Now, I’m told that the temperature there is pretty nice, so I was expecting 70s and perfect. You know… Cali weather! Well, it seems we brought some Florida weather because it was HOT! But it was also sunny and beautiful, and that you can’t complain about!

It was a beautiful day from start to finish. The girls all got ready in adjoining rooms, and they wore dresses all created by Linelle’s mom! She’s fantastic! Meanwhile, Matt was with the guys, who all wore gorgeous barongs in gray and blue. Jonathan, of course, wore a white barong with blue details. The ceremony was very personal, with the officiant sharing Linelle & Jonathan’s story, a butterfly release honoring loved ones, and a sand ceremony between Linelle, Jonathan, and their kids. Following the ceremony we ventured over to the San Ramon Waterfall for photos.

The party really started at the reception! The dance floor was packed all night, and there was a special choreographed performance by some of the guys (Jonathan even joined in at the end). I think everyone joined in for the money dance, because it must have last like 10 songs! At the end of the evening Linelle & Jonathan shared a last dance circled by their friends and family. After the last song was over, they thanked Linelle’s sister, Leslie, for all of her help on the wedding day. In addition to being the Maid of Honor, she ran all over the place making sure everything went according to plan. I made it through the whole day only allowing myself to get teary, but at that point the tears just fell. A beautiful day, amazing couple, and the greatest friends and family you could ask for. It was sad to see it all come to an end!

Thank you so much for bringing us out to CA to share this day with you! We had a great time, and we wish you and your newly joined family all the best! : )

But I have to say that we’ve saved the best for last! Part II includes the reception shots, including an amazing performance by a fire dancer! HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!?! Plus we have the very stylish wedding party and shots of Lisa & Omar! All of the shots of Lisa & Omar alone are actually from their “Day After” session. Sexy sexy! I tell ya, they are one gorgeous couple!

I love looking at these photos and remembering how much fun everyone had during this incredible wedding at Moon Dance Cliffs! I still laugh when I think about how a photo with Omar and a couple friends turned into EVERYONE from the dance floor jumping in for a group shot! What an incredible group, and we’re so glad we were there to share the day with you! Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for letting us be part of it!

We also have to acknowledge the other amazing vendors that made this destination wedding perfect! It was great working with all of you! : )
