As a wedding photographer, I find that it’s the subtle things that are the most powerful. A simple glance, gesture, or expression can change everything about an image, and those are the things that my husband and I look for on a wedding day. Those are the moments that really tell the story.
One of my favorite things to observe on the wedding day is the interaction between fathers and daughters as they walk down the aisle.
I love the expression as he looks at his little girl, knowing that he’s about to give her away…
… and the feeling of pride for the woman that she has become.
It’s so moving when the bride takes a moment to say “Thank you, daddy, for always being there.”
And my favorite moment of all — that hug at the end of the aisle that says, “No matter what, you will ALWAYS be my little girl.” Doesn’t that just tug at your heartstrings?
So on your wedding day, take a little extra time as you walk down the aisle. Take in every moment and cherish it, because it passes by so fast.
awww that’s such a sweet post! I know I definitely didn’t take for granted the presence of having my parents still around to be there!
Thanks Holly! I’ve been wanting to write about this for a long time! : )
