I just had an awesome weekend with Steph in the New Orleans area. It was freaking CRAAAAAAAAAAAZY! You would not believe how much we packed into that trip. It was insane, exhausting, and a lot of fun! We made the 8 hour road trip for a wedding that Steph was shooting for an old friend of hers. Seems like a long drive, but we chatted the whole time and it flew by extremely fast. I could say that about the whole weekend. We got to our hotel late (between 3 and 4am). The hotel was nice and comfy, but we didn’t spend much time in it, of course. On Friday we went around town a little to scope out potential areas to photograph and then we had to go to the wedding rehearsal and dinner. Between the rehearsal and the dinner we managed to stop at the Abita Brew Pub for a beer. At 8pm we decided to head to the French Quarter since I had never been there. Poor Steph. She probably thinks I am such a nutty tourist! Hmmm… I am, and unapologetically so! I love seeing new places, and even though I hate drunken frat boy types and Bourbon Street is crawling with them, I have to say it’s still a really neat area to visit. It’s both and charmingly historic and hedonistic at the same time. I think that is what makes the area so alluring. It has all the quaint timeless charm of other southern jems like Savannah and Charleston but it’s also completely wild and uninhibited. We weren’t wild and uninhibited, but I can see how that place could be trouble! We walked around and got some crawfish and beers at Acme and I was content.

And that was all in less than 24 hours!

On Saturday, we got up and began shooting at 7:30am. We went to the bride’s room for some getting ready shots. She was calm as can be and so sweet. It was cute to watch her giggle as she commented on how pretty she was! The wedding was at 1pm and we managed to get in some coffee and other goodies from Starbucks on our way to the Abita Springs Quail Farm for the ceremony. We spent a couple hours taking various photos before the ceremony began and the day flew by. Ceremony, reception, group shots, etc. And we were done around 5:30pm. Stupid me, I wore heels and my poor feet were begging for a break. We were so determined to hit the quiet, indoor hot tub at the hotel, but when we returned it was full of kids!!!! So we chose the next best thing… we showered up and hit the town. This time we opted for Madisonville for some more crawfish and beer. I don’t know how I ever lived without it!!!!!!

So I am exhausted now. We had to get up fairly early again so that I could get to Gulfport for a noon flight. I made it, but weather in Houston caused some delays. It was just such a busy and fun weekend. I wish I had the card reader for my small camera because we took some fun pictures on Bourbon Street. I’ll post them later. For now, here are a couple of pics of the wedding and from Madisonville. I resized them, plus Slide.com really dimishes the resolution on these anyway, but I just wanted to put up some thumbnails. I’ll try to post up some California pics soon!
