I love reading through all the articles on my blog reader and then seeing familiar images in them! Yesterday, I was excited to see that Truly Engaging wedding blog featured Stephanie & Dave’s St. Augustine wedding photos! Heidi is the voice behind Truly Engaging, the inspiring wedding blog of MagnetStreet Weddings (love their stationery designs, and our couples do too!). She is also one of the panel members for our big wedding photography giveaway (which you only have 2 weeks left to enter – hint hint!). ; )

Of course, most of the comments were about Stephanie uber-sexy Badgley Mischka shoes! And OF COURSE it happens to be a shot that I can’t take credit for, because my dear partner in crime Matt totally out-shot me on this one! See, we’re competitive like that, and this is just another reminder that Matt is really the master of getting killer shoes shots!

But it just begins with the shoes! The couple and the rest of the wedding day (the ceremony at the historic Llambias House, the reception overlooking the water) were just as gorgeous! Thanks so much to Heidi for featuring their wedding! We just loved everything about Stephanie & Dave’s St. Augustine wedding!

Details from Jasmine & Terrel’s gorgeous chocolate and pink wedding at OakLeaf Plantation were featured early this week on the WedLoft blog! Go on… take a peek! : )

This week, we are featuring Jacksonville wedding planner Katrina McCullum of Made of Honor Weddings with some thoughts about why you should hire a wedding planner or consultant.

Weddings have been planned for centuries, and I can’t tell you how many times I have heard. I wish I had hired a professional planner. Does everyone need a planner, well, no. This all depends on what type of person you are and if you have the time. It takes well over 260 hours to plan a wedding. Most people, pull in a friend or a family member to help out. But this itself could possibly be a stress factor. Your friends and family mean well but some feel they are doing you a favor and could get stressed out themselves. I have composed a list of reasons to hire a professional planner or consultant.

1.Stress: Yes, believe it or not planning a wedding can be very stressful. There are many details that go into a wedding and a wedding planner knows the ins and outs, the dos and don’ts to planning a successful wedding. Stressful things to you is not a big deal to them. Simply because they have dealt with it before. A planner who gets angry and flustered are signs of an inexperienced person. Planners are people too and they do still get frustrated but it is all in how you handle the situation.

2. Budget Management: It is very important to establish a budget in the beginning. A wedding planner can distribute your budget based off of your wedding needs. They keep your budget in tact and make you aware if you are starting to go over. Every magazine offers a break down of where your money should go, but a great planner knows how to adjust and make the proper changes while keeping in the margin.

3. Vendor Relationships: Wedding planners spend a lot of time developing and nourishing their vendor relationships. Because of these relationships they can most likely get a better deal and pass the savings on to you. This may not always be the case with every planner but a planner can negotiate contracts and make sure your needs are met.

4. Professionalism and Experience – enough said.

5. Mediator- Its your wedding, but there will be many people who have opinions on how your wedding should be. It could be religious traditions, or the amount of guest you are inviting, even the food you should serve. Your planner/coordinator will be in your corner and work for you to make sure your vision is achieved.

6. Keeps you on track- Reminders, reminders, reminders. Planners know what needs to be done and when they need to be done. Without being pushy or nagging, they can help you get those things done.

7. Venue management- Your planner/coordinator can handle all the little details that come with planning a wedding, floor plans, color coordination, seating charts, etc.

8. Vendors can do their job – Each vendor plays an important part of your wedding. When you don’t have a planner it falls on another vendor to fill those shoes. Timeline, organizing family members, set up and delivery. Some vendors may be okay with the extra duties but it takes away from what they are suppose to be doing and eats up valuable time.

9. Your own personal cheer squad: This is a great time in your life. Some brides can’t help but stress about their weddings. Your planner will keep you motivated. Remind you why you are having a wedding in the first place. Bring the fun back into planning.

10. Avoid the overcharge: Overcharge fees can be a pain in the butt and can add up quickly. A good planner will have a time schedule made out for the day of your wedding. It is normally arranged based of your vendors and the time they were hired. Your planner is running the show from behind the scenes and makes everything flow smoothly and end on time. Therefore you won’t be stuck with a bill at the end of the night.

A big thanks to Jessica from Destination Inspirations for sharing Michelle & Josh’s Hilton Head destination wedding photos this week! We were in awe of how blue the skies were that day and love all the personal elements that Michelle & Josh incorporate into their wedding! Such a beautiful day to remember, and we always enjoy taking a look back at the photos!

So, you’re engaged! Congratulations!! Being engaged is such an exciting time! You are going to get a lot of attention and spoiling by friends, family, and wedding professionals! Matt & I are coming up on our 3 year anniversary exactly one month from today, and I miss the days of planning our wedding! I still never get tired of chatting about weddings!

Fortunately, there are a ton of resources for you to get your fill of delicious wedding details! If you’re not sure where to start, here’s a list of some of our favorite wedding magazines and blogs:

Wedding Blogs
If the idea of following a ton of different blogs is overwhelming, consider putting all of your favorite blogs into a blog reader. Blogger allows you to do this (in addition to being a place for you to create your own blog). I use Feedblitz, a free site that allows you to manage your subscriptions and sends you an email with all of the latest blog posts that you’ve subscribed to. I get mine in a daily format, so every morning I drink my coffee and read blog updates in a single email! Don’t forget to add our blog to your Feedblitz! : )

Here’s a BRIEF list of other blogs that we love:

Truly Engaging – The wedding blog of MagnetStreet Weddings (great online store for designing your own wedding stationery).
The Wedding Palette – Need help tying your wedding colors and details together? There’s a blog for that!
Heart Love Weddings – If the real weddings aren’t reason enough to subscribe, Alexandra posts a weekly Tuesday Shoesday with designs to drool over!
Style Me Pretty – Looking for a reason to swoon? Style Me Pretty is full of details, details, details! If you’re a stylish bride who loves rustic, organic wedding creations, then this is a must follow!
Wedding Chicks – Another inspiring site full of details, but the best thing about Wedding Chicks is the DIY section!

Niche Wedding Blogs
If you can’t find what you’re looking for in the blogs above, try these niche wedding blogs:

Hi-Fi Weddings – Music inspiration for your wedding
The Wedding Yentas – A Guide for the Jewish Bride
Latina Novia – Inspiración for the Modern, Latina Bride

Wedding Magazines
I probably go to about 5 different stores in Jacksonville to find the latest wedding magazines, and whenever I travel I try to pick up regional magazines to see what’s inspiring brides all around the country. I have a list of about 50 wedding magazines that I read (some more loyally than others). It’s an expensive hobby, but I go back and read through them all the time! Many wedding magazines also have blogs, so make sure to check those out also!

Destination Weddings & Honeymoons – Whether planning your nuptials abroad or your post-wedding getaway, Destination Weddings & Honeymoons will take you on a journey across the world!

DIY Weddings – We love to swoon over opulent wedding decor by celebrity designers, but the reality is that those weddings are not in everyone’s budget. DIY Weddings magazine is a resource for the rest of us, with savvy tips on how to have a gorgeous wedding withing your budget! Also check out their blog, Becoming The Mrs.!
Brides Noir – A gorgeous magazine full of inspiration for brides of color! I’d love to see them expand (especially the Real Weddings section).

How do you warm things up after a blizzard?? You take a hot couple and a cute little pup out in the snow for some engagement photos!!

Over the holidays, we met up with Lisa & Omar at their home in Norwalk, CT for a quick engagement session and to chat about their upcoming destination wedding in Jamaica! Omar was in the kitchen making some chicken soup while Lisa introduced us to Miss Chloe, their adorable little Maltese/Yorkie pup! Chloe is every bit as sweet and affectionate as she is cute!

We walked around their community for a few photos. Snow was piled everywhere from the blizzard earlier in the week, but that was all the more reason for Lisa & Omar to snuggle up together! Even with the wintery scene, I can’t help but feel warm and fuzzy when I look at these images! Lisa & Omar look so happy and in love and Miss Chloe is just too precious in her little pink jacket with fur trim! Peanut says he is smitten! ; )

Lisa & Omar, thank you for letting us into your home and your lives! We can’t wait to share some more memories with you later this year and meet all your friends and family! Oh, and please send Chloe down so we can babysit!! : )
