Over the weekend, we photographed Brianna & Donnie’s wedding at the Jacksonville Golf & Country Club, which was our last wedding of the 2013 season! It’s so hard to believe how fast this year has flown by!
This year was full of big changes as we went into our first full year as California photographers. We began the year living in Temecula, but as we realized most of our life was in San Diego we decided over the summer to move yet again. As we begin looking forward to 2014, it’s time to reflect on what worked over the past year and what didn’t and think about what we want our business to look like moving forward.
My friend and fellow photographer Rupa Kapoor just happened to be coming to Florida for the month of December, so I decided to join her at a beach house in St. George Island for a week. We’ve been bouncing ideas off each other, doing some work and business planning, and having a lot of fun in between! Yesterday, we took her dogs for a walk on the beach and enjoyed the most beautiful sky! I sent the cameras home with Matt, but I couldn’t resist snapping some pics of beautiful St. George Island on my phone! Sometimes you just have to go on a retreat and clear your head, and there’s something about the ocean that soothes the soul and fosters the creative spirit!
Where do you go to find inspiration?
We are back from China & Japan and I have some overdue blogging to do, which I promise to get to before the end of the year! I have some past weddings and some of our trip highlights to share, plus our last wedding of the year (which we are shooting this weekend in Florida!). But first I wanted to post a sneak peek from our bridal fashion shoot last night with bridal gown designer Danielle Berg of D’Marie Bridal Couture! You might remember last year’s desert bridal shoot with Danielle, which ended up being featured along with some of Danielle’s other stunning gown designs in the July 2013 issue of The G.O.O.D.S. Magazine!
Well, when we started talking over the summer about doing another shoot, Danielle had a ton of great ideas, and one developed into this amazing carousel fashion shoot with several models. I love the location she chose and all of the gown designs she selected for the shoot! The ladies at The Doll Service did an exceptional job on hair and makeup. And thank you to all of our models, who made climbing up on carousel horses in full wedding dresses look easy! I definitely was not as graceful when I had to climb on one!
Our models (in order by individual photos):

I hope everyone enjoys this sneak peek!
I can’t believe that we leave tomorrow for our trip to China and Japan! We are so excited to see Matt’s brother get married and meet his fiancee and her family and friends! We are excited to welcome our new sister and her family into ours! I’m sure we’ll have plenty of photos to share when we get back!
During our trip, we will not have access to email, so we look forward to talking to everyone when we return to the office on November 12th! : )
I am so excited to share this engagement session! We had a great time hanging out with Jamie & Matt twice for their engagement session! First, we met up in the morning for their engagement photos at Grand Tradition Estate in Fallbrook. It’s such a beautiful location, with a sweet gazebo on the lake and tropical gardens. They said that one of the gardens reminded them of their trip to Thailand (which sounds so amazing from what they’ve told us!!).
After photos at Grand Tradition Estate, Jamie & Matt went to meet with their wedding venue and we met up again that evening for more engagement photos at Balboa Park! Matt proposed to Jamie at Disneyland in front of the castle. Of course, my first thought was “Heck yes! Let’s go to Disney for engagement photos!” But the photographers at Disney had already documented the proposal, so it didn’t make sense to take more photos there. Instead, we ended up at the stunning Balboa Park with it’s grand architecture and beautiful rose garden! Since their proposal ties into their wedding theme, they brought a cute pumpkin and a sparkly shoe for their save the date!
We can’t believe we have to wait all the way until 2015 to see these two tie the knot, but we are so looking forward to their fairytale wedding!
Time to catch up on more blog posts! Maria & John were married earlier this month at Immaculate Conception Church in Old Town San Diego. I really adore this church and especially this gorgeous wedding! After the ceremony, we headed off for more wedding photos at Balboa Park! Fortunately, we found some beautiful purple roses to match Maria & John’s wedding colors! There was a long break in between the ceremony and reception, so everyone went back to their rooms at the Bahia Resort Hotel to relax. As the sun began to set, the guests lined up to board the stunning William D. Evans Sternwheeler for the cocktail hour and reception. I have to say, this may be the most amazing place ever for a reception! Though it was docked for the evening, it was really like stepping into another world (and time) on this grand ship! What an elegant and intimate way to spend the evening celebrating with friends and family! We had so much fun with everyone and I soooo love everything about this wedding! They really planned it to perfection!
Though I finished up their wedding gallery several weeks ago, I haven’t had a chance to blog about Cali & Geoff’s sweet destination wedding at the Island Palms Hotel & Marina on Shelter Island! Cali & Geoff live in Oregon, but they met in San Diego and wanted to celebrate this special day with a close group of family and friends. We love intimate weddings, and this one was full of sweetness!
Yesterday we had a great time meeting up with Jamie & Matt TWICE for engagement photos! We started off with engagement photos at Grand Tradition Estate in Fallbrook and met up again in the evening for more engagement photos at Balboa Park! Two gorgeous locations with two gorgeous people! It’s so cute how smitten they are with each other! Here are a couple sneak peeks from their sessions!
October is my favorite month of the year, and nothing says fall like a barn wedding! Jennifer & William were married this weekend in Castaic at William’s parent’s beautiful home! It’s hard to make a huge wedding with 200 guests feel intimate, but celebrating at their home made it feel like a cozy family affair! It definitely ranks among the funnest weddings we’ve ever seen, and one of the most beautiful! We hope you enjoy these sneak peeks! : )
Congratulations to Maria & John, who were married today at Immaculate Conception Church in San Diego! Their celebration continued at the Bahia Resort on the stunning William D. Evan Sternwheeler (talk about amazing!!). Such a beautiful and fun day! Enjoy this little sneak peek! : )
It’s hard to believe that a little over an hour ago we were at Cali & Geoff’s wedding at the Island Palms Hotel on Shelter Island! We had such a fun time, and I was planning on posting a sneak peek tomorrow, but I just couldn’t wait! We hope you enjoy this little teaser! We can’t wait to share more pics from their wedding later this week! : D
